All oil boiler manufacturers recommend that an oil boiler is serviced every 12 months.  Not having it serviced can lead to using more fuel {kerosene or gas oil.}

Oftec, who are they?

Oftec is the Oil Fired Technical Association. They are recognised by the Govenenment, oil companies, heating appliance manufacturers as being the acceptable trade body in technician training and assessment for domestic oil heating, oil distribution and commercial oil firing industry.

For the oil industry in England and Wales, OFTEC registered technicians are the only people definded as 'Competent' and are able to self certify their work without the need for informing the local building control department.

For Landlords, Tenants & Property manangement

If you are a tenant and have an oil boiler in your home, your Landlord or Lettings agency should have had the boiler serviced every 12 months and be able to provide 'proof' that it has been serviced by a competent technician and the appliance is working correctly.
